Katrina Johnson

When I say I get it, I really do. You want your kid back, your parent to really hear you.  It’s a valid desire, and necessary to a healthy and whole life. That’s why I’ve dedicated  my life to this work to debunk the mental health statistics and restore harmony and  wholeness instead of hole-ness in your home.

“The main reason my parents felt as if I needed coaching was because of my response to what happened to me. I was always down, never left my room, and just wanted to sleep. I felt as if sleep was the only real safe space I had.

I like how Coach K. listens to what I have to say. I don’t feel judged when I talk. When I first came to coaching I didn’t think it was gonna work, but when I started working with Coach K. she helped me realize that talking and thinking about the incident doesn’t do anything but help me get past the incident. I’ve learned how to control my breathing in difficult situations.”

Finally, what would you say to someone considering using my services? “DO IT. Coach K. does everything in her power to make sure you’re comfortable before she moves on.”

“I really appreciated that Coach K let me go at my own pace and did not push me too much. When I started the counseling/coaching I felt anxious, but now I am less anxious. I feel that as a result of our meetings, I can now more easily talk to people that I don't know. My favorite part of working with Coach K was that she was easy to talk to and she helped me understand my feelings and how to deal with them.” -Brendan (Upper Elementary Student)

“One of the reasons that Brendan sought counseling/coaching was social anxiety, particularly with adults. This made it difficult as he didn't like talking to anyone he didn't know. However, he was comfortable with Katrina from the beginning and he actually wanted to attend his sessions with her as they made him feel better. I believe working with Katrina helped Brendan feel less anxious and more confident.” -Sheri (Satisfied Parent, NC)

“Initially, when we commenced coaching sessions, my eighteen-year-old son encountered considerable difficulties in effectively managing his daily affairs. These challenges ranged from achieving satisfactory academic performance in his college courses to navigating a detrimental relationship with his girlfriend and maintaining punctuality at his workplace. Subsequent to his engagement in coaching, he demonstrated an enhanced capacity to formulate personal objectives and consistently evaluate his advancement toward the attainment of these objectives. Currently, as he approaches twenty years of age, my son is assuming leadership responsibilities at work, cultivating a dependable, healthy, and supportive relationship with his new girlfriend, defining clear educational aspirations, and proactively embarking on the establishment of his own entrepreneurial venture.

A particularly commendable aspect of the coaching experience was the instantaneous development of trust and reciprocal respect. Katrina fostered an environment in which my son felt empowered to articulate his thoughts candidly and without fear of judgment. This, in turn, facilitated his ability to recognize his personal development and evaluate his progress toward his objectives during each coaching session. Furthermore, Katrina exhibited flexibility and adaptability in scheduling sessions to accommodate my son's availability.

Upon our initial engagement with coaching, I experienced considerable frustration and anxiety concerning my son's imprudent decisions and his apparent inability to comprehend the ramifications thereof. However, following the implementation of coaching interventions, my frustration and incessant worrying diminished substantially, as I could tangibly observe the positive transformations my son was enacting in his own life.

By placing confidence in the coaching process, I was able to relinquish the need to constantly interject my opinions and grant my son the autonomy to make his own decisions.

A noteworthy attribute of Katrina's coaching approach was her capacity to demonstrate empathy toward my son through active and attentive listening. Following each session, Katrina diligently provided follow-up communication, including session notes and key focal points, to sustain progress until the subsequent session.” -Miriam (Satisfied Parent, DFW)
